What is the Blakes Hitch?
The Blakes hitch is a climbing hitch.
The Blakes Hitch, what is it used for?
The Blakes hitch is often used by tree climbers and arborists in a variety of climbing systems. It can be used in both SRT (single rope) and DRT (double rope) applications.
Different from the rest
The Blakes hitch is quite different from the other hitches, in the way that the Blakes hitch is tied at the end of a rope, where most other hitches are tied using a loop of rope, often being a prusik cord.
Remarks
The Blakes hitch is often combined with a micro pulley to advance the hitch up the climbing rope.
It is highly recommended to add a stopper knot in the part of the line that sticks out of the Blakes hitch.
